A second suspect has been arrested on suspicion of shooting at a rival gang member in Turlock earlier this month.
The victim and a woman drove to a mobile home in the 1400 block of South First Street in Turlock on March 8. A short time later the suspects arrived on foot to visit the same home, according to a press release from the Turlock Police Department.
The suspects, identified as Thomas McAbee, 21, of Ceres, and Luiz Martinez, 21, of Turlock, confronted the male victim in front of the residence and challenged him to fight.
As the victim began to leave the area in his vehicle, police say, both suspects fired at him. He was not hit.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be the victim’s gang affiliation, according to the press release.
Martinez was located in a group of 10 gang members at Columbia Park on High Street on March 8.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and participating in a street gang.
Detectives found McAbee driving about a half-mile from the scene of the shooting on Tuesday. They pulled him over and arrested him on the same charges.
