Nine people were displaced Saturday morning as a fire roared through the attic of their home north of downtown Turlock.
Firefighters with the Turlock Fire Department were called to the home in the 500 block of Grant Avenue on a report of smoke coming through the vents.
When they arrived, they determined there was a fire in the attic. They called in crews from the Ceres Fire Department.
The occupants of the home all were safely out of the residence by the time crews arrived.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from inside, saving the residents' belongings and furniture. The fire was contained to the attic.
In all, four engines, two battalion chiefs and a fire chief responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The residents are being assisted with housing by the American Red Cross.
