BLAKER-KINSER CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

Blaker-Kinser Junior High School in Ceres will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a gathering on Friday. It invites former students and staff members, along with other community members, for food, music, games and other activities from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Administrators have agreed to take the ALS Association’s “ice bucket challenge.” The school is at 1601 Kinser Ave. More information is at (209) 556-1810.

DENAIR HIGH SURVEYING GRADS

Denair High School is conducting a survey of anyone who has graduated from DHS in the past decade. The short online survey includes questions about college readiness and experience, and careers. To take the survey, Denair graduates should go to http://tinyurl.com/DenairGradSurvey.

MANTECA GREAT VALLEY BOOKFEST

More than 60 authors will share their skills and stories at the Great Valley Bookfest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Orchard Valley Shopping Center, Highway 120 at Union Road, in Manteca. The free event features a self-publishing seminar, a book club forum, a writers’ workshop, cooking demonstrations, slam poetry performances, entertainers and children’s activities. Besides authors, the event features food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and live radio broadcasts. A costume parade open to all happens at 10 a.m. For more, go to www.greatvalleybookfest.org.
