A 25-year-old man was shot in Modesto’s La Loma neighborhood early Friday evening.

The victim, who was shot in the back, was conscious and treated at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries are considered to be nonlife-threatening.

The shooting was reported at about 6:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Camellia Way just south of Encina Avenue.

Minutes after the shooting, police received a call that a green sedan matching the description of the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting was headed toward Empire.

Police saw the vehicle and pursued it toward the area of Yosemite Boulevard and B Street.

The vehicle stopped and three men fled. Two were captured and a search in the area continued until about 9:15 p.m. The third suspect did elude capture, but two weapons were recovered in the area.
