Man exposes himself near Modesto school

Roosevelt Junior High School sent a letter home to parents Thursday regarding an incident in which a man exposed himself to two students on their way to school.

The girls, both 12, were on their way to school, walking near the corner of Orangeburg Avenue and Tully Road at about 7:45 a.m., when a man drove up in a burgundy four-door sedan.

Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves said the man whistled to the girls, who told police they initially thought he was a teacher at the school. When they walked up to the car, the man reportedly exposed himself.

The girls ran to school and immediately reported the incident to administrators, who notified Modesto police, Graves said.

The suspect is described as 35 to 40 years old, with black, shoulder-length hair and a goatee. He was wearing a blue shirt.

Anyone who sees a man matching this description is asked to call Modesto police at (209) 552-2470.
