Officers will be looking for drunken drivers this weekend with roving saturation patrols starting Friday night in Modesto.
The patrols are made up of officers assigned to solely look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs in areas with a high frequency of DUI crashes or arrests.
Modesto police will send out the patrols again on Saturday night.
At a sobriety checkpoint last weekend, Modesto police arrested one person on suspicion of DUI. The checkpoint was conducted at North Carpenter Road and Elm Avenue in west Modesto, where officers screened 317 drivers.
The DUI enforcement is funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
