Police will look for drunken drivers at sobriety checkpoints this weekend at undisclosed locations in Modesto starting Friday night.
Modesto police officers will be determining whether drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The officers also will look for drivers without valid licenses at the checkpoints.
Modesto police will conduct a second sobriety checkpoint on Saturday night. Police said those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence face jail time, loss of their licenses and increased insurance rates.
The checkpoints are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
