Bust of pot-growing operation brings prison term for Modesto man

A Modesto man was sentenced to two years in prison for conspiring to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana after his guilty plea earlier this year, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Symery Saykganya was found at a marijuana grow site in a rural area along the San Joaquin River near Newman, according to his plea agreement. Saykganya acknowledged that he and four other men cultivated 907 marijuana plants. Agents serving a search warrant at the site found a gun and saw that water from the San Joaquin River had been diverted to irrigate the marijuana plants.
