Ceres police given vehicle

The Ceres Police Department was bestowed an undercover car for its officer on the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force.

Esurance gave the car to Ceres police at no cost, and the department can retain the sale proceeds when it is done using it in several years, according to Police Chief Art de Werk.

The vehicle will be driven by a task force officer in connection with his duties as an auto theft investigator.

The make and model of the vehicle was not released because it will be used in an undercover capacity.
