A murder suspect was captured this week during a drug raid on a south Modesto house, Modesto police reported Saturday.
Angel Del Villar, 19, of Modesto was arrested around 1 p.m. Friday after officers searched a house in the 700 block of Imperial Avenue, Sgt. Rick Armendariz said. They also found 200 bindles of heroin, methamphetamine, a loaded handgun and cash there, Armendariz said.
Del Villar was wanted in connection with the killing Enrique Garcia Jr., 30, on May 18 in a gang-related shooting after the two got into an argument near Locust Street and North Martin Luther King Drive in Modesto, Armendariz said.
Garcia tried to flee in his car but crashed less than two blocks away from where the shooting took place. He died at the crash scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers also arrested Del Villar’s girlfriend, Angelina Mendoza, 19, of Modesto, for helping him flee the scene of the homicide.
Three other people — a 17-year-old male, Sergio Sanchez, 20, and Arnulfo Alvarez, 65 — were arrested for possession for sale of narcotics, Armendariz said.
