A 39-year-old Modesto man was arrested in Delhi last week on suspicion of stealing $10,000 in gold and gold dust from a Stanislaus County processing plant.
William Foster was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday after deputies with the Merced County Sheriff's Department's STAR Team conducted surveillance at a residence in the 16000 block of Harmony Ranch Avenue, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie, sheriff's spokesman.
Foster had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. Inside the house, detectives found several items which appeared to have been stolen from the plant, in addition to items used to collect gold dust.
MacKenzie said detectives also reported finding a syringe and about a gram of meth in the residence's garage. A man named Joe Medeiros, 55, of Delhi, claimed ownership of the meth.
Foster was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property. He was released after posting his $10,000 bail.
Medeiros was booked into the jail on suspicion of meth possession, and remains in lieu of $10,000 bail.
