Sheriff's Department: Men tie up Modesto family, steal car

Five masked men forced their way through the front door of a west Modesto home and held a family at gunpoint late Sunday night before leaving with their car, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

Nobody suffered injuries in the home invasion in the 600 block of Maze Boulevard. The men took the family’s 1989 black Chevy Caprice with a license plate of “2KKY652”, said Mike Radford, chief of the department’s Central Area Command.

Law enforcement was called to the scene at 11:36 p.m. The woman reporting the crime said the suspects tied up family members and ransacked the house. Also in the home were a man, an elderly woman and two young children, Radford said.

Radford said the men got in and got out quickly. It's not known in what direction they fled.
