Fire damages vacant home

A fire in south Modesto on Wednesday night caused $75,000 in damage to a vacant house, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the home at 705 Imperial Ave. at 9:32 p.m., and arrived five minutes later. There was fire in the attic and through the roof, according to Battalion Chief Hugo Patino. It was contained in about 25 minutes. Patino said it's not known how the fire began.

Four engines, a truck and a battalion chief responded.
