Ripon man held on rape charge

A Ripon man was arrested on suspicion of rape, according to the Ripon Police Department.

Daniel Wagner, 28, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning, about 24 hours after the alleged incident, according to Lt. Ed Ormonde of the Ripon Police Department.

According to Ormonde, there had been a party Tuesday night in the 200 block of Blossom Drive. He said the 18-year-old victim may have been "intoxicated to a certain point." Ormonde said the alleged rape occurred Tuesday morning at 4. Later that evening, a family member called police to report it, Ormonde said.

Wagner was arrested on suspicion of rape by force or fear, rape of a drugged victim and penetration with a foreign object, Ormonde said. He is being held in the San Joaquin County Jail.
