A Modesto teenager who robbed a clerk at Video King on Jan. 22 was prosecuted as an adult and sentenced to three years in prison, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney's office.
Authorities said Richard Sandoval, 16, entered the store about 10 p.m., wearing a black hoodie and gloves, then demanded money from a clerk who was working alone. The assailant punched the young woman in the face when she could not get one of two cash drawers open, then told her not to call police.
Sandoval was arrested two blocks away after a struggle with police.
