A Ceres man was sentenced to 45 years to life in prison after he acknowledged sexual acts with a 10-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney’s office.

William Wendell Fritz Jr., 55, pleaded guilty to three counts of committing a lewd act upon a child between 2004 and 2008.

Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Thomas Zeff sentenced Fritz to three consecutive terms of 15 years to life in prison.

The crimes came to light after a detective was tipped off about five video tapes that showed sex acts between Fritz and the children, authorities said.

At his sentencing, the male victim offered a written statement to the court. According to prosecutors, it said: “For all that is worth, you could rot in that prison and I would not care. But why did you do it to me and other children? I just want to know.”
