Police are looking for the people who committed two armed robberies at Modesto restaurants Monday night. The descriptions of the robbers are similar, but police have not determined whether the four-man crews are the same, Modesto police Sgt. Brian Findlen said Tuesday.
The first robbery took place about 7:05 p.m. at Subway, 1203 McHenry Ave. The second took place an hour later at Teriyaki King, 1701 Prescott Road, he said.
In both cases, four men with their faces concealed, each described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, entered the shops and demanded money. Handguns were used in both robberies, Findlen said.
The men fled after taking the cash. No one was injured. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters can e-mail tips via www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
