Modesto police Tuesday were investigating a possible link between armed robberies at a video store and a convenience store in central Modesto on Monday night that occurred within 50 minutes and 3½ miles of each other.
In each robbery, a group of men, with at least one armed with a handgun, entered the store and stole money.
The video store customers were robbed, said Sgt. Brian Findlen, a Modesto police spokesman. There were no reports of injuries. At 7:50 p.m., four men with ski masks entered the Video King at 3000 McHenry Ave.
The robbers fled on foot with the cash, Findlen said. The second robbery occurred at 8:40 p.m. at the 7-Eleven at 1045 Oakdale Road, Findlen said. Modesto police asks anyone with information about these incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.
