Modesto police Tuesday continued their increased patrols around two areas where children were approached by men as detectives looked to identify the man in each case. Investigators have looked at law enforcement databases, but they had not identified a suspect in either case, said Sgt. Brian Findlen, a Modesto police spokesman.

Detectives reinterviewed the victims Tuesday. Police conducted surveillance Tuesday at northwest Modesto's Chrysler Park, where a knife-wielding man tried to abduct a 13-year-old boy Friday morning.

The man was wearing a 49ers short-sleeved jersey with jeans. He was in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. He had short black hair and a mustache. He was on an orange BMX-style bicycle and had two tattoos on his right forearm.

Officers also were on the lookout for a man with a green bicycle who frightened two boys Monday morning on their way to Mary Ann Sanders Elementary School in northeast Modesto when he grabbed one of them on the shoulder. Police will continue increased patrols this week and encouraged parents to take extra precautions. Police ask anyone with information about these incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.
