A 50-year-old man was found dead near a downtown Modesto eatery Saturday night, and it appears his death could’ve been caused by a drug overdose.
The cause of his death, however, had not been determined as of Sunday, said Heather Graves, a Modesto police spokeswoman. She said the man’s death will continue to be under investigation until they receive toxicology reports from Stanislaus County coroner officials.
About 8:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities received a report of a body found near the Old Mill Cafe, near Ninth and F streets. Graves said investigators found no obvious signs of trauma on the man’s body. She said there was some evidence of drug usage found nearby.
It was unclear whether the man was a transient. There was no further information available Sunday afternoon about the man’s identity.
