A Modesto man suspected of molesting two female juveniles was arrested by Ceres police Friday and is in the Stanislaus County jail, with bail set at $1 million.

Police received a report Nov. 2 that Child Protective Services was investigating possible child molestation at a residence on the 2800 block of Fowler Road. “During the investigation, information was developed to sustain the allegations of child molestation against both female juveniles,” the Ceres Police Department said in a news release Monday.

Hilario Villa Sosa, 40, was taken into custody in Ripon. “He was stopped on his way to work in the Bay Area and arrested by detectives,” said Sgt. Danny Vierra. Sosa faces charges of committing sexual acts with a child under 10 years of age and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

“The most we can release is both girls were members of Sosa’s extended family,” Vierra said. “One victim reported the inappropriate touching to a family member and the family member contacted law enforcement. The follow-up investigation led to the identification of the second victim. At this point, there are no indications of additional victims, but the investigation is still ongoing.”

One victim reported that the abuse occurred regularly over a span of about nine years, with the last reported incident being in 2014, Vierra said.

Sosa’s Facebook page indicates he is or was a heavy-equipment operator and motor transportation operator with the Army. He posted in late December 2013 that he’d started working for the U.S. Army Reserve. Vierra said police know he works in construction, but “we do not have his current employer information.”

Though his Facebook page and Ceres police have his last name as Villa Sosa, the suspect also may be known as Villasosa. That’s how the jail in-custody log has his name, and how it appears on the Army uniform he wears in a photo on Facebook.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Detective Julio Amador at 209-538-5729.
