Info: Experience extreme couponing with speaker Nancy Miller. She will teach participants where to find the best coupon deals, rules to follow while shopping and how to shop your favorite stores for their best deals. Info: The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency is holding a community flu vaccination clinic for anyone 6 months or older. Suggested cost is $27 adults, $10 children, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Additional clinics will be held through November. YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: With the expectation of state approval, the Modesto City Council authorized a call for bids to be opened Nov. 5 on an estimated $1.1 million Briggsmore Expressway extension west of McHenry Avenue. Modesto Public Works Director Ross Campbell said the action was necessary ahead of the state’s approval in order to complete Modesto Irrigation District Lateral No. 3 piping related to the expressway construction while canals were dry between mid-October and March.
