STANISLAUS FOREST EASES CAMPFIRE RULES
Cooler, wetter weather has prompted the Stanislaus National Forest to lift campfire restrictions ordered in June. The rules had been in force outside developed campgrounds in areas of high or moderate wildfire danger. Information on campfire permits are at forest offices and www.fs.usda.gov/stanislaus. “Though fire restrictions are being lifted, overall forest conditions are still dry,” said Robert Laeng, deputy fire management officer. “I encourage the public to enjoy recreating on public lands and to continue to be vigilant with fire safety.” Visitors also should keep in mind that there is still a statewide ban on debris burning from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
