75 YEARS AGO: Sonora resident Wayne Willis Laird was honored by Stanford University with lower-division honors for the 1938-39 school year. The announcement was made by university President Ray Lyman Wilbur. Lower-division honors go to students who rank in the upper 10th of their class. Laird graduated from Sonora Union High School.
