Info: A Solar Fair, now in its second year, will be presented by Modesto Junior College Project Green and Solar Everywhere. The event will feature solar companies and financial institutions with loan programs for solar. Tours of Church of the Brethren’s 200-panel solar array will be offered. Interested parties are invited to bring their past 12 months of electric bills and roof data to obtain cost estimates and information on the benefits of solar.

25 YEARS AGO: On a vote of 4-1, the Modesto City Council decided not to have a special election to replace Councilman John Sutton, who died in an accident. The council decided to appoint a candidate to the seat. The city charter called for the council to act within 30 days if it chose to use the appointment process rather than call for a special election.
