What: SENIOR RELIEF BUDDY PROGRAM
Info: The Stanislaus County Area Agency on Aging is seeking volunteers for its Senior Relief Buddy Program, which focuses on assisting caregivers of frail elders. The Relief Buddy program gives caregivers a break while seniors interact with trained and certified volunteers. Volunteers must pass a fingerprint background check and attend a visitor orientation and a four-hour class. Volunteers will be contacted to assist occasionally and for approximately three to four hours each time. Mileage reimbursement will be available. What: FUNDRAISER POKER RUN
When: Sunday, 9 to 11 a.m. registration
Where: Spinnakers Lounge, 2031 Yosemite Blvd.
Info: The Vengeful Saints M.C. of Modesto is holding a fundraiser poker run. The cost is $20 per person. The poker run involves stopping at businesses throughout the area with the goal of getting the best poker hand. Prizes will be given for best poker hand and for low poker hand. The final stop will be at The Other Place on Yosemite Avenue, where there will be a barbecue, live music by Echo Chamber, raffle drawing and 50/50 drawing. 75 YEARS AGO: In Waterford, Naomi Root won a silver medal in a public-speaking contest. The contest was held at the Community Church by the Loyal Temperance Legion, the junior department of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union.
