Flames engulfed a car’s engine compartment Thursday morning after a four-vehicle collision in north Modesto, which stalled traffic for about 45 minutes on busy Standiford Avenue.
No injuries were reported, and all vehicle occupants made it safely out of their vehicles, Modesto police said.
The crash occurred about 7:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Standiford, just east of Tully Road. Police said the vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision, but it was not yet known what caused the crash.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly extinguished the flames.
Officers closed one of the westbound lanes, blocked by the burned Dodge, but were able to clear the other lanes.
The burned car was removed about 8:30 a.m., and the road was cleared.
No arrests were made, and no citations were issued.
