Info: Learn how robotic surgery can be performed with an incision the size of a dime. The free seminar hosted by Doctors Medical Center will include presentations from urologist Dr. Robert Eisenberg and gynecologist Dr. John Pfeffer, who use the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System at the Modesto hospital. A physicians panel will answer questions about robotic surgery, which promises less pain and shorter recovery times for patients. Info: Signe Darpinian, a marriage and family counselor in Modesto, will hold an "Introduction to Intuitive Eating Workshop." Intuitive eating is a nondieting approach to ending compulsive eating. It encourages people to listen to their bodies' cues, so they can distinguish between hunger and the emotions tied to overeating. The cost of the workshop is $125, which includes lunch. Info: The King-Kennedy Memorial Center board of directors is inviting the community to Mellis Park to raise money to reopen the Mellis Park pool in the summer of 2009. There will be a free concert featuring The Cartel Band with sound provided by Sound Express. Perfect Name and other community artists will perform. Doc's 'Q' N Pit Stop will be selling barbecue. Info: Celebrate the 50th anniversary of NASA and the 400th anniversary of the invention of the telescope with Modesto Area Partners in Science. MAPS is celebrating the two milestones with the family science presentation "Discovering Extrasolar Planets," by San Francisco State University astronomer Chris McCarthy. All ages are welcome but it's suggested for those 8 and older. Observatory open house after presentation. Free admission and parking.

Info: The Friends of the Ripon Memorial Library are partnering with several business professionals on a Boot Camp for Business. The class costs $99 and all proceeds will support the group's community partnerships for literacy and learning program, which brings classes to the library. Boot Camp for Business is an intensive two-week, four-session program that will address everything you need to know to run a successful business. Business professionals will speak on such topics as best hiring practices, marketing and advertising, an overview of QuickBooks for record-keeping and payroll, and maintaining long-term financial health. There will be time to ask questions after each session. All classes will be held in the community room of the library. Seating is limited, so sign up early.
