The 2008-09 lineup for "Pathways to Creativity," the Gallo Center for the Arts' arts education series, was announced this week. The shows and lower ticket prices are aimed at providing exposure to the arts for school-aged youths. The 18 events have daytime performances. Shows include:
- "Shakespeare for Young People"
- "Diavolo," an athletic attraction in which gymnasts, actors, dancers, and rock climbers interact with giant props
- "Toying with Science," which combines circus skills, mime, original music and audience involvement to teach lessons about gravity, leverage, fulcrums and simple machines

Performances are aligned with the California visual and performing arts content standards. For discussions before and after the performances, each arts education event will have a study guide and performance description that will be posted online at the Gallo Center's "arts education" link at www.galloarts.org.
Entrance fees for all student matinee events sponsored by the Gallo Center are $5 per person, with an accompanying handling fee of $6 for each performance order.
