Today at the fair

It's Turlock Convention and Visitors Bureau Kids' Free Night at the Stanislaus County Fair. Children 12 and younger admitted free. Also, the first 1,000 children, ages 3-12, receive a voucher for a free Monterey Bay Aquarium admission ticket.

HIGHLIGHTS: Decorated cookie contest, 5:15 p.m.; Jurassic Journey dinosaur exhibit, 5-11 p.m.; master showmanship (horses first, then other animals) 6 p.m.

ARENA: Budweiser Clydesdales arena show and CCPRA rodeo, 6:45 p.m. Free with fair admission.

VARIETY FREE STAGE: Raven-Symoné, 8:30 p.m.

CENTER STAGE: Chico Avila, 8:30-11 p.m.

COMMUNITY STAGE: Carpediem, 5:45-8:30 p.m.

STAGE 4: Percussionation, 5:45, 6:45 and 7:45 p.m.; Suzy Haner Hypnosis Show, 8:30 and 10 p.m.

HOURS: Gates open at 5 p.m.; exhibit buildings close at 11 p.m.; carnival closes at midnight.

WHERE: From Highway 99, exit at Fulkerth Road in Turlock and turn east. For parking, turn right on Soderquist Road, or go past Soderquist for more parking.

ADMISSION: $10 for adults, free for kids 12 and under. Weeknight discount coupons for $2 off adult admission at Taco Bell restaurants in Stanislaus County.
