DELHI ARMED ROBBER SOUGHT: Merced County sheriff's investigators were looking for an armed man who robbed a Delhi store Monday afternoon and got away with cash. The robbery occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at Flicks and Licks, a movie and music store in the 16000 block of Schendel Avenue. The robber walked into the store, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, and pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun, according to sheriff's officials. The robber pointed the gun at a store clerk and demanded the cash in the register while using his free hand to keep the sweat shirt's hood pulled tight around his face. When the clerk opened the register, the robber went around the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the store. Sheriff's officials described the suspect as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds. The robber fled the store in a brown, four-door car, possibly a late 1980s or early '90s model Honda or Nissan with a sunroof. The Merced County Sheriff's Department asked anyone with information to call the sheriff's headquarters at 385-7444.

MODESTO FIRES DISPLACE 10: The number of people displaced by two apartment fires Monday afternoon grew to 10, including two pregnant women, after officials made further assessments at the Valley Oak Apartments and Bridgeford Apartments in Modesto. The Stanislaus County Chapter of the American Red Cross said it was providing lodging and other assistance to the homeless families and individuals. The fires gutted an apartment at each complex, causing smoke to spread to adjacent dwellings.
