HEAD-ON CAR CRASH INJURES WOMAN: A Patterson woman suffered major injuries early Saturday when her car collided head-on with another car on Highway 33, near Ward Avenue in Patterson. Peggy J. Hall, 54, of Patterson, was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with a severed right foot, according to the California Highway Patrol report. According to the CHP report, Francisco Munjia, 32, of Patterson, was traveling south on Highway 33, approaching Ward Avenue, at 5 a.m. when his car crossed into the oncoming lane and struck Hall's car. Munjia was treated at the scene. A passenger in his car, Jose Perez, 25, also of Patterson, was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where he was treated and released.

ABANDONED HOME BURNS: A vacant house in the airport neighborhood in south Modesto burned Friday night. The home, at 620 Benson Ave., was a total loss, according to Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief Sean Slamon. The fire was called in about 9:30 p.m., and drew three engines and two trucks from the Modesto department and an engine and water tender from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department. There were no injuries, and fire officials have not determined a cause. Property loss was estimated at $125,000.
