75 YEARS AGO: A red onion, measuring a foot and a half in circumference and weighing 2 pounds, was placed on exhibit at the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce. The bulb, which was the type commonly grown in home gardens, was pulled from the garden of proud Oakdale rancher Worth Reager.

25 YEARS AGO: Firemen were busy wetting down the smoldering debris of the Tracy Auto Parts Co. building, which was destroyed by fire. In the heart of downtown Tracy on Highway 50 between Adams and Walnut streets, the machine shop at the rear of the building broke out in flames just before midnight.
