ATTORNEY WANTS RECORDINGS: The Pitman High School math teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student was in Stanislaus County Superior Court on Thursday. Carl Kubicek is charged with four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. The complaint says the incidents occurred in a classroom at Pitman High, in the girl's home, at the home of one of her relatives and in the home of retired Turlock police officer Thomas Vincent. The girl was watching Vincent's house while he was on vacation, police said. Vincent was a friend of the victim's family. Kubicek also faces one felony count of oral copulation and one misdemeanor count of exploitation of a minor, which suggests photographs or video was taken. Kubicek's attorney, Frank Carson, made a motion to see three CDs and an audio cassette tape pertaining to the case, likely interviews recorded by investigators. Kubicek is due back in court June 5.
ARRESTS AT SUSPECTED BROTHEL: Two women at K-Spa in Riverbank have been arrested for a second time, accused of fronting a brothel as a day spa. Massage therapist Mi Jung Yang, 40, of Riverbank was arrested for offering more than a massage to an undercover Riverbank deputy. Propositioning someone for sex is a misdemeanor. Deputies also arrested Sung Cha Stelle, 39, of Riverbank, who owns K-Spa. Stelle was first arrested for criminal conspiracy under similar circumstances in 2006. The district attorney's office declined to prosecute the case. Earlier this month, she was cited for allowing an unlicensed practitioner to give massages at her spa.
