FREE CAR SEAT CHECK: Modesto police and the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency's Keep Baby Safe Program will conduct free child safety seat checks from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday. The safety checks will be held in the Health Services Agency's parking lot at 830 Scenic Drive, between Bodem Street and Coffee Road. Trained car seat technicians will be on site to assist the public in making sure children are riding in the appropriate seat for their age, weight and height. Anyone unable to attend but would like to have a free child safety seat check can call the Modesto Police Department at 572-9500 for an appointment.


TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE: Senior citizens and low-income residents (regardless of age) may get assistance in preparing their income tax returns at the Senior Center, 1191 Cahill Ave., from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoons on a walk-in basis. Wednesday will be the last day for this assistance.

SEEKING VENDORS: Vendor applications are available for the Healthy Families Earth Festival on April 26. The city is looking for exhibits that promote health, fitness, exercise, recreation and sports. The event will be held at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is held to encourage families to participate in healthy exhibits, fun runs, and children's activities. There will be an inflatable activity center and bounce houses, live entertainment, food and it's free.
