Forums to discuss mayor, council pay
Have an opinion on how much Modesto's mayor and City Council members should earn? The city is hosting two extra forums for people to air their views on salaries for the city's elected officials. The meetings follow voters' approval of a February ballot measure that gave the mayor more power to set the agenda in City Hall and opened the door for council pay raises. Council members and the mayor earn $800 a month. The meetings will take place Monday at 7 p.m. at the YMCA, 2700 McHenry Ave., and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Maddux Youth Center, 615 Sierra Drive.
