A very dry March is over. Perhaps, as the saying goes, April showers will bring May flowers. March ended Monday and the rain gauge at the Modesto Irrigation District's downtown office showed 0.02 inches of precipitation for the entire month. Without rainfall, farmers, like the owner of this orchard on Dakota Avenue, had to rely on irrigation water. Others, like Maylee Lee, use a hose or bucket to water their gardens. The first day of April is expected to be dry, too. But weather forecasters say there is a chance of showers Wednesday, followed by a warming trend.
