NEW MUSEUM COMMISSIONERS: Before ringing in the new year, Oakdale City Council members settled one last point of contention for 2007 -- selecting a new museum commission. The commissioners are: Rachelle Antinetti, Lane Avilla, Emlynn Falk, Jesse Gibbs, Sandra Goncalves, Donald Riise and Bill Sehl. City officials disbanded the last commission in October because of complaints that the commission was not doing its job. Members of the new commission were selected at a special meeting in December.

SCHWARZENEGGER TAPS MERCED EDUCATOR: Merced County's top educator will join the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, a panel that advocates for the eight counties stretching from San Joaquin in the north to Kern in the south. Gov. Schwarzenegger on Wednesday appointed Lee Andersen, superintendent of the Merced County Office of Education, to the partnership. Schwarzenegger also appointed Corwin Harper, a Kaiser Permanente executive from Stockton, to the panel. Schwarzenegger created the Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley in 2005. Its members are not paid for their work in the group.
