TODAY'S DREAM: Domestic abuse usually is targeted at wives and girlfriends, but often it lands on children -- physically and emotionally. Last year, 200 of the 382 people who spent nights at the Haven Women's Center of Stanislaus shelter were children. In addition to providing shelter, the nonprofit organization offers a legal program to help women obtain restraining orders against their abusers and education and prevention programs such as Kids Count! for children 4 to 12 and Teens Count! for those 12 and up.
THE WISH: Household items, toiletries and hair accessories, youth art supplies, other youth program needs, digital camera, fax machine, computer, therapy workbooks, volunteer incentives, security system, dishwasher, paint, kitchen table.
