The parcels were piling up behind the counter at Modesto's Hudson Branch post office as window clerk Dezandra Bert processed items for delivery before Christmas. The post office wasn't the only place dealing with holiday packages.
FedEx expected Monday to be the busiest day of the year for shipping, as drivers geared up to haul 10.4 million packages. That prediction represents a 6 percent increase over the 9.8 million packages shipped on last year's most hectic day and promises to keep delivery drivers busy making their rounds.
