FIRE ANT ERADICATION: The Merced County Division of Parks and Recreation announced that Henderson Park in Snelling will be closed today until 4 p.m. The park will be closed to allow the State Pest Detection and Emergency Projects staff, a division of the Food and Agriculture Department, to treat the park for red imported fire ants. About 1 to 2 pounds of bait, in the form of corn grit, will be spread on each acre of park property. The work should be completed by this afternoon, and is not hazardous to humans or pets, officials said. Henderson Park is at 2641 E. Merced Falls Road.
