MJC hosts forum for political candidates

Candidates running for seats on the Modesto City Council and the Modesto City Schools Board of Education will face off in a forum Thursday night sponsored by the Associated Students of Modesto Junior College on the college's east campus, 435 College Ave. Organizers said candidates will respond to questions posed by the audience. Learn how to make the most of math

The Stanislaus County Office of Education and the Stanislaus Mathematics Council will host "Got Math? It All Adds Up to Success!" on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stanislaus County Office of Education, 1100 H St., Modesto. Greg Tang, a nationally known speaker and author of books such as "The Grapes of Math" and "Math for All Seasons," is the keynote speaker. He will share his approach to teaching, which combines problem-solving and arithmetic and integrates math with language and art. The conference is geared toward teachers and administrators. Preregistration for the conference, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $75 and is limited to 300 attendees. Registration is available at www.stancoe.org.
