HAVEN CELEBRATES 30 YEARS: Haven Women's Center of Stanislaus County is holding a 30th anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. Thursday. The event will honor the 30 years of service the center has provided to the women and children of Stanislaus County. CHILD DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE PROGRAM: California State University, Stanislaus, will offer a master of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in child development and a graduate certificate in child development, beginning in January. Applications for both programs are being accepted. The programs offer classes on a nontraditional schedule for working professionals, held two evenings per week for 18 months. A series of 6:30 p.m. information sessions on the programs have been scheduled at the Turlock campus today; in Merced on Oct. 22; and in Modesto on Oct. 24. TEEN LEADERS CLUB: The YMCA of Stanislaus County is offering a Teen Leaders Club, free to Stanislaus County youth in grades 6-12. Meetings are held every Tuesday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the YMCA in Modesto. The Teen Leaders Club provides a place for teens to become better people and leaders while learning more about themselves and the world around them. Teens will focus on leadership development, perform volunteer work, and have open discussions in the club environment, as well as planning and participating in fun activities and field trips. ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA: The Central Valley High School Choral and Theatre Arts program will present "That's Entertainment" today at 6 and 8 p.m. Performances will include musical selections from Broadway shows, including "Bye, Bye Birdie," and "Wicked," solo specialty pieces and original monologues. MOMMY AND ME CLASSES: A Kinder Gym class for boys and girls, ages 1 to 5 is designed to enhance and stimulate early childhood development through experience in basic gymnastic skills, hand-eye-foot coordination, and loco motor development. A Mommy or Daddy and Me class, geared for 12 months through 2 years, will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m.; Kinder Classes geared for children 3 to 5 years will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., cost is $30. HEAD START REGISTRATION: Empire Union School District Head Start is accepting applications for the 2007-08 school year. Head Start offers free preschool for 3- and 4-year-old children of low-income families. LEGAL GOLF TOURNEY: The Stanislaus and Stockton-San Joaquin County Legal Professionals Associations are holding their sixth annual Golf Tournament on Oct. 27 at Jack Tone Golf Course. It is a four-person modified scramble and the cost is $75 per person which includes green fees, cart, water, soda and BBQ. There will be prizes for longest drive, closest to pin, net and gross scores, putting contest and raffle. Check-in is at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Lunch for nonplaying guests is $15 and tee sponsorships are available for $50. SEEKING SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS: Hospice of Emanuel is seeking people desiring to assist terminally ill patients and their families by providing emotional support, respite care, bereavement support and assisting in the hospice office. Hospice of Emanuel has scheduled a volunteer training session in English and Spanish on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Conference Room C, East Wing, Emanuel Medical Center. All new volunteers must attend both sessions. There is a $25 fee. Preregistration is required. Scholarships are available upon request.

FASHION SHOW: The Merced County Arts Council Inc. and Atwater Merced Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will hold the "Denim and Diamonds" fashion show from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. A no-host bar will begin at 6 p.m. with a buffet dinner served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 and are available at the Multicultural Arts Center or by calling 388-1090.
