Firefighters visit schools with lifesaving lessons

Modesto firefighters dressed as clowns will deliver fire and safety training to elementary school students in the area in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, officials reported.

Activities have been planned through Oct. 19.

Training topics include home safety, fire prevention, and advice about how to escape safely from a burning building.

Saturday, Modesto fire stations will be open to the public, with refreshments, safety information and treats for kids, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
