TEEN SHOT: A teenager was shot early Sunday morning after a street altercation that may have involved as many as 20 people, police said. Sgt. Rick Applegate of the Modesto Police Department said Ruben Valles Jr. was shot in the side at 1:58 a.m. after a fight at a party in the 1800 block of Montilla Court. "Officers believe it might be gang related," Applegate said. Police said no one would cooperate with investigators even though 35 people were questioned at different houses on the block. Applegate said the wound was "through and through" and did not appear life-threatening. The victim was treated for an injury to his colon later Sunday.
BODY FOUND: The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department is investigating the discovery of a decomposed body in a field north of Highway 108 near Jamestown. Lt. Dan Bressler reported the body was so decomposed that gender could not be established. An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.
