OAKDALE PEDESTRIAN DIES FROM INJURIES
Two men were detained in connection with a hit-and-run that caused fatal injuries to a pedestrian in Oakdale on Sunday evening. The collision occurred at F and Third streets around 5 p.m. The victim, a man in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to Oak Valley Hospital, then transported by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. No further information about the crash or the victim was available Sunday. Oakdale police learned the vehicle that fled from the scene was registered to a home in Riverbank. A Stanislaus County sheriff’s sergeant went to the home, where he observed a truck drive from the scene at a high speed, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The sergeant followed the truck to a residential neighborhood in west Oakdale, where he observed the driver pick up a man near J Street and Crane Road. He conducted a traffic stop on the truck and detained both men inside. Meanwhile, a deputy located the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run abandoned nearby on Mustang Drive. The men were turned over to the Oakdale Police Department. It was not known Sunday night whether the men were arrested or what possible charges they face.
