Ten people were displaced by a house fire Friday morning in south Modesto, according to officials.
Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief Hugo Patino said the fire took place at a home on the 800 block of Dover Avenue. He said it is his understanding that four adults and six children were living in the home.
He said the Red Cross was contacted to help the adults and children.
The fire was reported about 10:30 a.m. Smoke was coming from the attic when firefighters arrived, and the fire flashed over the front room and blew out the room’s windows, Patino said.
He said firefighters knocked down the fire in about 12 minutes. The home’s occupants were outside when the fire started, he said, and there were no injuries.
Patino said Modesto sent four fire engines and a ladder truck to the fire, and Ceres sent a fire engine.
The cause remains under investigation. Patino said officials estimate the home sustained $60,000 in damage and valued the loss of the home’s contents at $30,000.
