Watch bulldozer crews mop up wildfire near Lake Berryessa
What started as a small vegetation fire near Lake Berryessa has grown to a wildfire more than 50 acres, Cal Fire said.
The Canyon Fire was reported at 1:15 p.m. Monday near Highway 128 and Wragg Canyon Road, according to the Cal Fire incident report. As of 6:30 p.m., the fire had grown to 55 acres and was 60 percent contained, the report said.
Highway 128 is closed from Monticello Dam to Wragg Canyon Road, according to the report.
Evacuations were in place on the south side of Wragg Canyon Road, though the area is not heavily populated, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Nine homes were evacuated, the incident report said.
Cal Fire responded to the fire with the Napa County Fire Department and the Winters Fire Department, according to the incident report.
There have been no reported injuries or structures destroyed. Fire crews will fight the blaze through the night and construct fire lines, the incident report said.
The blaze is burning near the site of the Wragg Fire in 2015. The fire destroyed more than 8,000 acres and took two weeks to contain.
