Columbia College invites the public to a Friday, April 5, job fair with a wide range of employers.
It will host 66 companies and agencies in the timber industry, tourism, health care, water management, education and other fields. The free event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Oak Pavilion. Mother Lode Job Training is co-host.
The employers include Sierra Pacific Industries, a major timber company, Save Mart, Caltrans and state and federal agencies that manage forests, parks and other lands. The tourism sector ranges from Moaning Caverns in Calaveras County to the Black Oak and Jackson Rancheria casino resorts to attractions in and near Yosemite National Park.
The Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, which diverts part of the Tuolumne River to the Bay Area, will be on hand. So will the Tuolumne Utilities District, the main water and sewer provider within the county.
Law enforcement, the military, health care providers and social service agencies are among the exhibitors, too. The farthest afield is Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
The fair will feature eight sessions on specific sectors:
10 a.m.: Hospitality management
10:30 a.m.: Natural resources
11 a.m.: Law enforcement
11:30 a.m.: Health
12:30 p.m.: Education
1 p.m.: Arts
1:30 p.m.: Military
The organizers said in a news release that attendees should “dress for success” and bring resumes. They need not buy the parking permits required of other campus visitors.
