Harbor Freight Tools opens new store in Turlock; has donated PPE supply to hospitals
Harbor Freight Tools is now ready to serve the people of Turlock.
The discount tool and equipment retailer opened its new store on North Tegner Road last week. A grand opening celebration is set for May 16. Work has been underway on the ground-up construction of the 15,000 square-foot building since last winter.
The store, situated between the Goodwill and Costco, is the first Harbor Freight in Turlock. The chain has an existing shop in Modesto on Carpenter Road. The new store opened with about 35 employees.
As an essential business, the store sells a wide variety of tools and equipment for home, automotive and construction work for do-it-yourselfers and professionals. Their merchandise includes air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools and more.
Because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the store has limited hours now and is asking customers to follow social distancing rules while also performing extra cleanings.
The chain has also pitched in generously in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. In March, Harbor Freight made national headlines when the company announced it would donate its entire supply of N95 masks face shields, and Nitrile gloves, to hospitals in the communities where they have stores. An update in April from the company confirmed they donated one or two pallets of masks, gloves and shields to each of the 1,000 communities it serves.
